The Comeback Always Means More Than the Fall

Noah Nelms's Blog | The Comeback Always Means More Than the Fall

If there’s one thing wrestling — and life — has taught me, it’s this: you’re going to get knocked down. What matters is how you respond when you do.

A few years ago, I broke my leg in half during a match. One second I was doing what I loved most in the world — the next, I was on the ground staring at my leg, realizing it wasn’t supposed to look like that. It was one of those moments where everything just stops.

I had surgery, screws, rods— the works. Lying in that hospital bed, I started to wonder if I’d ever step foot in a ring again. Wrestling wasn’t just a job to me; it was my dream, something I’d been chasing since I was a kid. And now it felt like it might’ve been taken away in an instant.

But I wasn’t ready to give up. I pushed through recovery, stayed focused, and little by little, I worked my way back. Not only did I heal up — I ended up signing my first professional wrestling contract not long after. That was one of the proudest moments of my life. It reminded me that even when things break — bones, plans, or dreams — they can still be rebuilt stronger than before.

That same lesson sticks with me every single day in the car business.

Just like wrestling, sales has its ups and downs. Some days are great — people find the perfect car, everything clicks, and it feels like a win. Other days, you get told “no” ten times in a row, deals fall apart, or something unexpected happens that throws off your momentum.

But I’ve learned that setbacks don’t mean it’s over. You regroup, refocus, and come back swinging — because the comeback always means more than the fall.

So yeah, life’s thrown me a few curveballs (and a few fractures), but I wouldn’t trade any of it. It’s made me tougher, hungrier, and more grateful for where I am now — helping people find cars they love, providing for my family, and still doing what I’ve always done best… connecting with people and finding a reason to smile no matter what’s going on.

Because at the end of the day, it’s not about never falling.
It’s about getting up — every single time.
